| DeathCom Multimedia & the Edonkey 2000 Network FAQ: | |
| Due to ever increasing
bandwidth and storage costs, DeathCom Multimedia has turned to the ED2K
network in order to store old media. This small FAQ should answer some
initial questions. If you need additional assistance, email

Does this mean I need to download & install ANOTHER program? Yes. You will need an Edonkey 2000 client in order to download ED2K links now found on this site. But fear not, there is a really good client out there called eMule. eMule contains no Spyware or Adware to clog up and slow down your PC like some other P2P networks. It will catch all the links from Internet Explorer or Netscape and begin downloading. So, there is no more old school HTTP downloads here? No! All new media will be available via fast HTTP downloads like they have been for the past few years. The ED2K network will ONLY be used for older media that has first premiered on DCM and was accessible via the site exclusively. Are there advantages to the ED2K network over the old FTP DCM used? Hell yes! For one thing, speeds should be
considerably faster and downloads will be MUCH more reliable. Previously,
DCM was hosted on a slow cable connection (part of the site still is) but
now a handful of dedicated staffers of the site are pooling the data for
you to download at much greater speeds. Like all P2P networks, if you
continue to share the files you download from this site, you too will help
improve download speeds for others. As an added bonus, the ED2K network
itself offers a wealth of various media to download. Ok, I have eMule and it caught some links from the site. Why do I see zero sources? Give it time! The ED2K network is large and it can take time for you to find and connect with one of our serving computers. Things will get faster in time, but at the start here we recommend you start up your download and let eMule run in the background 24/7 set to use 80% of your total upload rate. You can get many tips on improving eMule's performance at www.emule-project.net I have a Mac, what do I do? Buy a PC :P But really, all I can suggest is aMule its an eMule type client for Mac, Linux, and about everything. Hopefully that will get you going. |
