Report by TakagiNaoSama When Otakon meets DCM there always seems to be trouble. We traveled to Baltimore this year expecting even more problems than last year, but after a long chat with the people in charge, we were surprised at how willing they were to meet our requests. We were also very pleased by the number of supporters we had among cosplayers. More people than ever before were asking us if we were going to be able to release the masquerade this year. We couldn't give them a definite answer, but we assured them that we were sure going to try. And try we did. The DCM staff sacrificed a lot of their convention time to go the extra mile in attempts to get you your cosplay this year. Hopefully it pays off, now and in the future. Thanks to everyone who has continued supporting us through this! Additional thoughts by DeathCom Otakon remains to be one of our favorite conventions to attend (regarldess of the problems with video distribution). Its the one east coast convention where we often find the very best costumes of the year. Additionally, more often than not, the weather cooperates with us to allow us to give you some quality photos. Also, a first for us at DCM, we got an exclusive interview with the creators of Hellsing (revealing many spoilers, dont say we didnt warn you). From an attendance perspective, Otakon didnt appear to grow beyond last year's attendance. Hallways were still passable, and having main events in the 1st Marnier Arena freed up a lot of space throughout the day. The downside is certainly the long walk over there for events. Had it been raining, it would have been miserable. Thankfully it was the usual extreme humidity with some temperature in the high 90's. And Otakon still holds the record for the biggest game room of any convention we've attended. Previous Otakon Reports Dont want to be seen on this site? Read our photo usage policy for more details.
