Katsucon Eleven, the great experiment. Two cultures, two hotels, and one convention. Once more we at DeathCom Multimedia would like to thank Katsucon's press liaison Chad. We have been to many conventions and time and again Chad has proven to be on the ball. He came through for us this time and is always checking in to be sure we have everything we need. Press department heads take notice, this is how that job should be run! Well, let me get this out of the way first, we at DCM feel that the dual hotel setup for Katsucon was not the best idea. The Sheraton was mostly neglected and few would brave the cold to see the video rooms, artist alley, and the game room. Sadly, the game room was also a point of gripe for us. Mostly, being in the second hotel made it difficult to get to (especially after hours when it was even colder), but they had a lot of retro, a lot of dance (which isnt bad unless its mixed in with the other gaming, as it was here), and few new release games. The cramped layout left little room to navigate if stations were filled with gamers. Not ideal conditions at all. Id go on some about Psycho le Cemu's concert, but you can read the in depth report clicking above. The only major complaint we would have regards the Marriott itself and the various security. We found ourselves being reprimanded constantly for taking photos in the hall and just about everywhere else. The security wasted more time holding us up in the halls yelling at us than if they would just let us do our jobs, we'd be out of the way. Costumers can spend weeks or even months on their costumes, show a little respect and allow the ten seconds or so it takes to immortalize the work. There are excessive hold ups, but I think most professionals keep the traffic in mind when they stop a costumer. Anyway, enjoy our report and our photos. We look forward to next year's Katsucon at a single hotel with a more understanding security staff. Previous Katsucon Reports can be found here! Dont want to be seen on this site? If your pictured and want it removed, drop me a line and Ill take it down right away. Copyright 2005, DeathCom Web Productions.
