Anime Central 2006 on DCM: June 5th, 2006

Acen '06 was one of the busiest cons for us yet. The staff was kind enough to allow us to set up our photo booth, however, we really weren't in the best of places. Acen is set up very strangely in the first place, with the dealer's room, artist's alley and registration in a completely different building than the rest of the con. We were stuck in a far corner of the dealer's room. Not a prime location for attracting costumers. We had to actually go "fishing" for cosplayers because most of them walked right by without even seeing us! It was quite discouraging, but even so we still managed to get a lot of photos. Even though this is only the second con we've set up a booth at, most of our photographers are already missing "the thrill of the hunt." I do wonder if you guys prefer getting your pictures taken at a photo booth or randomly in the hallways. I guess there's advantages and disadvantages to both...

Being stuck in the dealer's room also didn't let us see much of the con. The only time we got out was taking costumers outside for photoshoots, which was a nice change of scenery. That is until Saturday night. It was my first time filming the masquerade, which I've been wanting to do for a long time, so it made me very happy ^^ What made it even better was that the masquerade was awesome! There were some very impressive skits (pimpin' Mario Bros., you guys rocked it!!), and there were none that made me smack my hand to my forehead. Definitely a treat at my first Acen.

What made the con even better for me was filming the FanCam Saturday night right after the masquerade. We found out that's when everyone goes crazy! We got excitedly caught in the middle of some of the craziest con antics and interviewed some very interesting people. I had been desperately looking for con-goers to help me make a FanCam that would measure up to Ohayocon's, and I think I finally got it! Special thanks goes to Lionel, EurobeatKing, TheRealLink, CardCaptorWill, StripperVash and Voltz, as well as everyone who gave us a lot to laugh about that night.
